Best Places to Eat in Athens (Plus Rooftop Bars & Restaurants)

Athens has plenty of wonderful restaurants to choose from and some have amazing views of the Acropolis. Going to a rooftop bar in Athens in definitely a must-do! Here’s where we loved dining in Athens.

Electra Rhythm Athens

This restaurant is located at the rooftop of Electra Rhythm hotel, indoor and outdoor seating with views of the Acropolis. Upscale and delicious food. I got the truffle mushroom rissoto and it was amazing! We came here with no reservation and got lucky with a table outside. I’d recommend booking a reservation though.

Stork Restaurant

Absolute must visit! This rooftop restaurant has some of the best views of the Acropolis. Located on the rooftop of Niche Hotel, Stork is a trendy, beautiful rooftop restaurant and bar. They have classic Greek and Mediterranean dishes in a tapas style dining. So a variety a small plates. The food was very unique, good overall. Definitely recommend a reservation here!

Koutouki Kalypso

A very local restaurant located near Kallithea. A little out of the way but it is a very delicious, traditional Greek restaurant. Some of the best food we had in Greece and an affordable price. This restaurant is known for the meat, so don’t come here unless you like meat! This would be a good lunch spot. We came here with our tour guide and loved it. Fairytale Cafe

This one is for my girls! You HAVE to come here if you are in Athens, it’s the cutest cafe I’ve ever been to, they have some food options but their desserts are amazing! This is a great spot to grab a coffee, dessert, and take some amazing photos.

Tips for Dining in Athens

We went to a couple places we did not care for.. I’d recommend not dining anywhere they have servers outside trying to get you to dine at the restaurant. These are everywhere in really popular neighborhoods like Plaka and any touristy place. Usually the food is not that good.

I’d recommend booking reservations for places you really want to dine. We only did this for Stork, and I wished I had planned out better where all we wanted to eat. Rely on local recommendations too.

Definitely try some local dishes and Greek food, even if you don’t like it, at least you tried!

Tipping is not required but you should leave a little something if the service was really good.

The prices in Athens are not that bad, lunch time is typically cheaper and if you go to upscale rooftop restaurants, those will be pricier.

There are so many good, fun restaurants in Athens. It’s definitely a foody city. You are bound to find a few places you’ll love.
