Santorini Honeymoon Itinerary
Santorini is one of the most romantic destinations in the world and for good reason. With its whitewashed cliffside villages, dreamy sunsets, luxury hotels, and endless sea views, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the top honeymoon spots in Greece.
For our honeymoon, we spent about 2.5 weeks traveling through Greece and started our trip with 5 unforgettable days in Santorini. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, romance, incredible food, and bucket-list experiences.
If you’re planning your own Greece honeymoon or wondering how many days you need in Santorini, this guide breaks down exactly how we structured our 5-day honeymoon itinerary.
How Many Days Do You Need for a Santorini Honeymoon?
Realistically, 3 to 5 days in Santorini is the sweet spot.
3 days: Enough time to experience the highlights
4 days: A great balance of sightseeing and relaxation
5 days: Ideal for honeymoons with luxury stays, slow mornings, and romantic dinners
5+ days: Perfect if you want a slower pace or day trips
If you can take 10 days or more in Greece, I highly recommend adding other islands to your honeymoon and doing some island hopping.
First Stay: Private Luxury Retreat Near Imerovigli
We started our honeymoon at Lithi Luxury Retreat, and honestly, it was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed.
We splurged on accommodations in Santorini, and it was 100% worth it.
Our suite had:
Private infinity pool
Stunning sunrise and sea views
Peaceful outdoor space
Beautiful room design
Incredible service
This property is in a quieter, more remote area near Imerovigli, which made it feel incredibly private and romantic.
If you’re looking for nightlife, shops, or walkable restaurants, this may not be the best fit. But if you want to relax, reconnect, and enjoy total privacy after your wedding, it’s perfect.
They also offered breakfast, arranged transportation, and partnered with nearby restaurants that delivered directly to the room.
Exactly what we wanted at the start of our honeymoon.
5-Day Santorini Honeymoon Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and Relax
We arrived in Santorini in the afternoon, checked into our hotel, and spent the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing and it was perfect.
We relaxed by the pool, ordered food to the room, and the hotel surprised us with a bottle of wine.
Honeymoon Tip: Don’t over-plan your first day. Book a beautiful hotel and give yourselves time to settle in, rest, and enjoy the moment.
Day 2: Couples Massage & Romantic Cliffside Dinner
We woke up to an incredible breakfast and had a slow, peaceful morning by the pool.
Later in the day, we arranged for massage therapists to come directly to our suite. This was one of the best experiences of the trip and something I highly recommend for honeymooners.
Sunset Photos at Three Bells of Fira
Before dinner, we stopped near the famous Three Bells of Fira for photos. This is one of Santorini’s most iconic photo spots, with whitewashed buildings and blue domes overlooking the caldera.
Dinner at Orkos in Fira
For dinner, we reserved a floating table at Orkos, one of the most unique dining experiences in Santorini.
Our reservation included:
A stunning cliffside setting
Floating table over the water
Multi-course dinner
Sunset views over the caldera
Even with the windy weather, it ended up being magical because so many people canceled and we basically had the whole place to ourselves.
It’s definitely a splurge, but perfect for a honeymoon.
Best Time to Book:
Reserve dinner around sunset so you can watch the sun go down and see the island light up afterward.
Day 3: Catamaran Cruise Around Santorini
After two days of relaxing, we were ready for a little adventure.
We booked a sunset cruise with Sunset Oia, and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Santorini.
The cruise lasted around 5 hours and included:
Swimming stops
Dinner onboard
Wine, beer, and cocktails
Sunset views from the water
Stops Included:
Red Beach
White Beach
Volcanic Hot Springs
Important Tip:
If you swim at the hot springs, don’t wear white swimwear, the sulfur can stain it.
A catamaran cruise is an absolute must-do in Santorini. Seeing the island from the sea is unforgettable.
If you want a more intimate honeymoon vibe, book a private cruise. We chose a group cruise and still had an amazing time.
Day 4: Move to Oia
After three nights of privacy and total relaxation, we headed to Oia for the second part of our honeymoon.
We booked a beautiful Airbnb with:
Incredible caldera views
Private balcony
Hot tub
Complimentary breakfast
Oia is expensive, especially if you want a view, but staying 1–2 nights here is the perfect amount of time.
Lunch in Oia: Budget-Friendly Option
During our honeymoon, we splurged on dinners, so for lunch we kept it casual and grabbed gyros from PitoGyros.
Delicious, affordable, and perfect for a quick bite.
Swim at Amoudi Bay
If you want beach time in Oia, head down to Amoudi Bay.
Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but it’s worth it.
Once you get to the bottom, walk left through the rocks for a few minutes and you’ll find people:
Swimming
Cliff jumping
Sunbathing
Hanging out by the water
We loved it here.
Dinner in Oia
That evening, we had dinner at Oia Gefsis with sunset views.
Santorini restaurants can be pricey, but it’s honestly hard to go wrong in Oia. Great food and beautiful views are everywhere.
After dinner, we returned to our Airbnb, sat in the hot tub, had more drinks, and admired the village glowing at night.
One of those moments you never forget.
Day 5: Explore Oia & Sunset Dinner at Amoudi Bay
We started the day with a relaxing morning, then walked to Oia Castle for panoramic views over the town and caldera. Oia Castle was built to protect the town from pirates, so it has some history there as well.
It’s a quick stop, but definitely worth seeing.
Afterward, we wandered through Oia’s winding streets, discovered hidden corners, and found some of the most picturesque windmills.
Afternoon Option
Grab lunch and head back to Amoudi Bay for more swimming or cliff jumping if that’s your vibe. Amoudi Bay is really the only “beach” option in Oia which is why we went here multiple times. If you don’t care to go swimming this day, take a wine tasting tour or a local cooking class with a Greek grandma! I personally think a wine tasting tour would be super romantic.
Dinner at Sunset Amoudi
For our final dinner, we went back down to Amoudi Bay for dinner at Sunset Amoudi. Doing these stairs twice in one day.. Yikes! But it was so worth it. This was one of our favorite meals of the trip.
We loved:
Fresh seafood
Incredible sunset views
Romantic waterfront atmosphere
Amazing dessert
We ordered the chocolate lava cake, and it was honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
If you’re honeymooning in Santorini, I absolutely recommend this spot!
Day 6: Iconic Blue Dome Photos & Departure
Since it’s your honeymoon, you have to get one of the iconic couple photos in front of Santorini’s blue domes.
We woke up before sunrise and headed to the Three Bells photo area early.
Pro Tip:
Use the second entrance (coming from the east side). It had a much shorter line and better photo angles than the first entrance.
After photos, we grabbed breakfast, packed up, and continued on to the next island.
Final Thoughts: Is Santorini Worth It for a Honeymoon?
Absolutely.
Santorini is expensive, but for a honeymoon, it’s worth the splurge.
You don’t need a full week here, 5 days felt perfect. Enough time to relax, explore, eat incredible food, and experience the magic of the island.
