Best Beaches in Coron, Philippines

Coron is known for the limestone cliffs, crystal clear lakes, and water activities like boat days and kayaking. Coron also is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines, and the dramatic limestone cliffs make the beaches even more exotic.

Here’s some of the beaches we went to and the most popular ones to visit in Coron.

Vivian Beach

This was such a small, tropical, picturesque beach in Coron! As you pull up there’s two palm trees right in the center that really brings out the tropical vibes of Vivian beach.

You are closed in by the limestone cliffs and have the beautiful clear turquoise water and white sand beach.

Atwayan Beach

I believe we were at a beach right around the corner of Atwayan and just up from Sunset Beach. I could not find a name to the beach we were at but it’s right in between these two locations.

This beach had more rock formations going throughout the water, a lot of shells, and a bit more rocky on the sand, not as soft as some of the others we went to. Still a lovely beach and amazing turquoise waters.

Banul Beach

This was my favorite beach we went to during our time in Coron. You have the powdery white sand, blue turquoise water and massive limestone cliffs towering over the beach. It was tropical and exotic.

Plus there were these adorable dogs roaming around that greeted us right off the boat and would not let us out of their sight! They seemed like they were protecting us.

This beach is known for one of the best beaches in Coron for sunset. It was definitely one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve experienced!

The three beaches we went to we were literally the only people there at each one! Our guides definitely took us to some beautiful, hidden spots.

Malcapuya Island

We did not visit this island but it’s about 1.5-2 hours away on boat from Coron town. This island is going to give you definite tropical vibes. Similar to Mammon island we visited in Siargao. Long stretches of white sand beach, beautiful clear water, and plenty of space to relax and swim.

Banana Island

Nearby Malcapuya and typically visited on the same boat tour, offers similar vibes with long stretches of white sand beaches, lots of palm trees making it great for relaxing in the shade, and plenty of space to swim.

Bulog Dos Island

This one is very popular for the sandbar photos! I thought about adding this to our itinerary but decided to spend more time at our accommodation.

It’s a small island with a long, curved sandbar and clear turquoise water. A short stay but great for photos.

These islands are all relatively close together and it’s best to have a full boat day to visit these spots.

How to Book a Boat Day in Coron

You’ll have to book a boat tour in order to visit practically any beach in Coron. If you’re visiting in high season (December-April) I would book a boat tour in advance. You can do this through GetYourGuide or your accommodation may be able to set something up for you.

I would ask your accommodation first, they’ll usually have better prices and they can let you know if you should wait to book.

Since we were traveling during off season, I didn’t want to take my chances on booking any tours in advance due to weather. Our accommodations also said it was not necessary to book in advance, they have private speed boats at Paolyn houseboats that take the guests out on tours, we just tell them what we want to do when we arrive.

I thought that was super nice because then we’d know what the weather is doing and if it’s safe to venture out on the sea.

Final Thoughts

I would have loved to take a boat tour to some of the islands that are further out but I was also very excited to be in the exotic environment Coron island offers so I decided to stay close. Coron is so unique and offers very different vibes from the beaches in Siargao, both still absolutely stunning.

I think if you have two full days you can definitely hit all of the cool beaches, lakes, and lagoons on Coron island and then venture out on a boat tour the next day visiting some of these stunning tropical islands an hour or two away from Coron.

That would definitely be the best way to experience Coron, Philippines.
